Outcomes

The overall goal of the Families in Later Life Lab is to improve the relationships of families in adulthood.

Research Purpose

The primary focus of the Families in Later Life Lab (FILL) is to examine the predictors and consequences of later-life family relationships, with emphasis on how these relationships influence health and well-being. Much of our current research centers on familial care provision of older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. It is estimated that over 7 million individuals in the United States have Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia (ADRD), and over 60% of these individuals are cared for by family members. ADRD caregivers are at an elevated risk of numerous adverse physical and psychological health outcomes compared to other caregivers.
