Funding Sources: University of Missouri

Outcomes

Our goal is to identify the skills and environmental factors that promote school readiness and long-term success, particularly for children experiencing adversity or vulnerability.

Research Purpose

The Self-Regulation and Motivation in Early Learning research lab broadly focuses on children’s cognitive development, learning, and school success during the early childhood years, especially as it relates to school readiness, self-regulation, motivation, and self-directed speech. It also focuses on exploring the impact of these constructs on long-term achievement in elementary school and identifying early skills and environmental factors that increase school success among at-risk and vulnerable children. Recent research has explored the impact of homelessness and how educational entities can support children and families experiencing homelessness.
