Shinyoung Jeon , PhD
- Assistant Professor Human Development & Family Science
Dr. Shinyoung Jeon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science and directs the Bridges in ECE: Partnerships & Data Lab (B-PAD). Through CFPR, Dr. Jeon connects her research on early childhood education to the Center’s broader mission of translating research into policy and practice that benefits Missouri families.
Dr. Jeon’s research program includes two distinct lines of work. The first involves long-term research-practice partnerships with programs such as CAP Tulsa and OU-Tulsa’s Early Childhood Education Institute, examining how children’s early experiences, including classroom quality, instructional practices, and family engagement, shape their school readiness in Head Start and other publicly funded preschool programs. The second develops quantitative methods for integrating national early childhood datasets, including the Family and Child Experiences Survey (FACES), to generate more robust evidence on the factors that support children’s development across cohorts and populations. Together, these two lines of work reflect Dr. Jeon’s broader commitment to producing research that is both methodologically rigorous and directly usable by early childhood programs and policymakers.
Within CFPR, Dr. Jeon contributes to the Center’s outreach and service activities by sharing findings from her research-practice partnerships with early childhood programs and stakeholders, and by supporting CFPR’s efforts to strengthen the evidence base available to family-serving programs across the state.
